Joss Whedon, Marvel Bringing S.H.I.E.L.D. to ABC

Marvel's The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon, together with Marvel TV and ABC Studios are currently developing a live-action TV series focusing on the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, better known in Marvel's comic books and feature film universe as S.H.I.E.L.D.

Deadline has the scoop, saying ABC has greenlit the project, which will be written by Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. The trio, along with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb will executive produce.

In the works for some time, the site adds that "Production on the pilot, which marks the first live-action Marvel TV project to get a green light, will start immediately."

Whedon is expected to direct the pilot, schedule permitting.
