Jim Carrey Eyes 'Loomis Fargo' Bank Heist Comedy

Oct 16, 2012

Jim Carrey is in talks to headline LOOMIS FARGO, a bank heist comedy that Relativity Media is in negotiations to acquire, reports Variety.

Originally in development at Paramount, the pic is based on the 1997 robbery of the Charlotte, North Carolina, regional office vault of Loomis Fargo & Company by armored car driver and vault supervisor David Scott Ghantt. An FBI criminal investigation (which became international in scope) ultimately resulted in the arrest and conviction of eight people directly involved in the heist, as well as 16 others who had indirectly helped them, and the recovery of approximately 95% of the $17.3 million stolen.

Carrey would play the role of Ghantt. Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) is set to direct from a screenplay by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer.
